Anahata Katkin... continued
Through June, an array of Anahata's visionary, inspiring work she's calling "Creative Abandon" will hang and be for sale at the eclectic art gallery and custom frame shop.
"Our collections reflect the moods and beauty of a global culture meeting modern times," says Anahata of her mixed media artwork that combines collage, journal pages and graphic design. "Today, inspiration is everywhere. Through vivid designs and emerging concepts we celebrate the myriad of textures that color the world."
Known for her sometimes whimsical, always evocative and divinely feminine collages that adorn greeting cards, journals, magnets, mugs, and wall art, Anahata has made a name as one of the region's most successful creatives.
"Her art is passionate and it's got this juicy, you-can-almost-taste-what-she's-thinking feel because she brings so much life into her images," says Inger Jorgensen, co-owner with Nicole Hurley of Bohemia Gallery. "And people are curious about her: who is this creative woman doing all this inspired, beautiful art?"
"Creative Abandon" will feature several original pieces and information about Anahata's self-styled process of manifesting her "visual journals and artsy living."
"We're looking forward to introducing the community to one of Ashland’s greatest success stories," Hurley said. "We hope visitors to the gallery will be moved by Anahata’s inspiring journey as much as we were."
Jorgensen and Hurley have custom framed Anahata's pieces in "all kinds of different and delicious" styles to complement the artist's novel approach to collage.
The show starts Friday, June 1, with a First Friday opening from 5 to 8 p.m. A local gypsy swing band will provide a musical backdrop
